v0.2.0 Release
Alright, I've worked on quite a lot since my last log and I wanted to write about it all before I get so far ahead and have to make one huge log for myself later. Here is most of the progress I've made since my last log.
Minor things:
- Fixed a small bug I found with the random generation causing huge parts of the generation to be blocked off my closed rooms when everything generates so fast.
- I believe I fixed a bug with interactables staying 'lit' up even after the player moved away and can't interact with them anymore.
-Reworked how the interaction system works in code. I will probably need to change it again later but right now I've organized it pretty well.
Major things:
- Basic Enemy AI has been finished for now (with reworks coming later). Enemies will not focus on player until they are attacked, nearby enemies are attacked, or the player makes too much noise when nearby (running, walking, shooting gunshots).
- Added Crouching so players can sneak past enemies.
- Options and Menu System are now functional and allow the player to adjust the volume before starting.
- Added a final objective with the player now being required to take the energy cell from somewhere in the map back to the teleporter and then leave.
- Added a mini-map and mission objective to the player's UI (Both will be reworked and allow a better sight of the nearby area)
- Added new decoration generation across the map from barrels for decor to ammo boxes that provide more ammo.
- Added Enemy generation across the map.
Future Additions:
- Still working on getting animations and models for more decoration and the player/enemies.
- New models for rooms, hallways, and everything to help it look better.
- Better UI and icons for inventory, mini-map, items, and more.
- A equipable item section in the inventory so more weapons might be added (going to make flashlight and weapon first).
- Customizable player model for people to choose their Convict's attire.
- More music and sounds for everything to help better the atmosphere.
- Interactable logs across each station.
- Some bits of Lore.
- A tutorial level to instruct on how to play.
- Much more planned for later if I continue working on the project.
Overall I haven't been nearly as productive the last week or so but I've still had progress done over the last few weeks. I hope to continue it and hopefully get most of my basic stuff out of the way so I can release the actual "Demo" for my friends and others to try out.
